Keeper: Justin Upton for Robinson Cano

Postby mamaxmax on Sun Aug 30, 2009 4:10 pm

Hey. I know this site is not doing so well but I have nowhere else to turn for advice on this trade. The trade deadline is today. I was about to reject it, but then I thought about it and realized that this could be good.

It's a 16 team roto keeper league, 6x6 (OBP & Holds). Should I trade Justin Upton for Robinson Cano. Upton has the advantage in power and overall ceiling.
Cano has the advantage in lineup, ballpark, BA consistency, and position.

Either one would probably be a keeper for me next season. I am currently in 6th of 16, so at this point I am more concerned with next year than this year. My other keepers would likely be Ichiro (we play LF-CF-RF, so Upton would take up my Utility spot before I had a chance to draft), Hunter, Lincecum, Ubaldo Jimenez, and Ryan Zimmerman.

Basically, the question is what will Justin Upton do with the next few years of his career? I feel like Cano will stay pretty close to where he is right now; 20 HR and an excellent batting average at a relatively weak position. Is Upton's current .309 average going to stay that way in the future? He also currently has a 16-4 lead over Cano in stolen bases, as well as a higher OBP.

If anyone responds today....that would be a very pleasant surprise and I would be thankful.
