Wainwright, C. Young (SD), Medlen...

Postby Blocpartyboy on Tue May 19, 2009 9:04 am

I'm in a 12 team H2H non-keeper, in 1st place with 1st waiver priority. Decided to preserve it & hope (somehow) that wainwright & Chris Young (SD) would last those few hours of FA status. Of course they didn't, & i think i'm gonna use my priority for Medlen....Did i make a mistake? Should I have grabbed one of those guys instead?
Here's my staff:

Santana
Hamels
Harden
Liriano
Bedard
Scott Richmond
Guthrie
Smoltz (DL)
T. Hanson (waiting for the callup)

It may not seem like grabbing Medlen is IMMINENT (especially since we're non-keeper), but the next two best teams have pretty solid staffs. I'd drop Guthrie, btw. Any feedback welcome, thanks!!

I really don't see Medlen staying in the rotation . . . I just think Hanson and Jo-Jo Reyes are better starting pitcher prospects.

I'm a big Wainwright fan at the end of your rotation since the Cardinals seem very competitive this year. He is striking more people out this season, but also walking a bit more. He will be average ERA and WHIP, but the wins should be above average. The bullpen seems solid (power arms Perez and Motte, lefty specialist Dennys Reyes, and stable closer Franklin).
